The Big Ambassador Program, launched in 2022, is a partnership between Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass and University of Kentucky Athletics. This initiative connects student-athletes with our mission to inspire kids, champion our programs, and grow awareness. In 2023, UK Football’s Deone Walker was honored as the first "Big Ambassador of the Year," motivating other athletes to get involved as mentors.
In 2024, BBBSBG was selected as the beneficiary of UK Athletics’ My New Kentucky Home program, hosting a Field Day for over 100 kids alongside UK’s incoming athletes. These experiences create lasting memories and provide kids with superstar role models to look up to. With six current Big Ambassadors, we’re excited to welcome more student-athletes to inspire and empower the kids of BBBSBG!
For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
